Snapchat sharing for YouTube Music debuted on iOS in October and now, according to a recent report, it is also available on Android.
Emergence of Sharing Feature
The first indication that YouTube Music might integrate song sharing to Instagram and Snapchat surfaced in November 2020, as reported by 9To5Google.
How it Works
Upon opening the share sheet in YouTube Music for Android and selecting Snapchat, users can share the song they are currently listening to. The shared content includes the album artwork, artist’s name, app logo, and a link to listen to the music.
Snapchat’s New Feature
Snapchat has introduced a new feature allowing users to share their real-time location for a duration of 15 minutes or a few hours with friends. This feature serves as a temporary buddy system, ensuring the safety of friends and family while they are commuting or in transit.
In a tweet posted late on Friday, Snapchat stated, “Make sure you and your friends get home safely with temporary location-sharing.”
Similarity to Find My App
This feature resembles the functionality of the Find My app on iOS, where users can opt in to view and share precise locations.
Snapchat’s Growing User Base
Snapchat boasts 319 million daily active users (DAUs), marking a 20 percent growth year-on-year. Additionally, the platform has surpassed 100 million monthly users in India.
